^ most of that. Also I really loved the Mel x Stannis sex scene, disparity in nudity or no. Ugh, I need more Mel in my life.

That was not a nudity I minded.  That makes sense to me, use a sexual relationship that actually mattered in the canon and show it!  Would be great to have a show where as many men are willing to get nude as women though, absolutely.

The only thing I didn’t like was the whole “I’ll give you a son” prompting.  Other than that, yes, I’m glad they showed it.  Stannis/Mel shipper 4 lyfe.

margaery is a delight, as is the casting of asha. the tywin/arya stuff gives me shivers.

I think it’s super economical to play up Margaery this way.  Olenna is very cunning but she’s not ambitious.  It was Mace who had the ambition, but not the smarts.  Olenna’s goal was actually keeping Margaery safe given Mace’s ambitions, she was mitigating her son’s damages.  Margaery as she is in this incarnation handily combines those two things and we know that they are part of her personality anyway. I adore her pragmatism, pragmatic women are just unf <333

Agree utterly, and also seeing a bit more of Pyke, Balon and Asha, and the fabulous casting of Edmu- oh wait. #not bitter

Oh, Tully babies. I miss you so.  PYKE IS GORGEOUS THOUGH actually all the scenery in this show incessantly stuns me.

(Except Winterfell.)

charliedaltons:

Last of all, Margaery brought her before the wizened white-haired doll of a woman at the head of the table. “I am honored to present my grandmother the Lady Olenna, widow to the late Luthor Tyrell, Lord of Highgarden, whose memory is a comfort to us all.”

The old woman smelled of rosewater. Why, she’s just the littlest bit of a thing. There was nothing the least bit thorny about her. “Kiss me, child,” Lady Olenna said, tugging at Sansa’s wrist with a soft spotted hand. “It is so kind of you to sup with me and my foolish flock of hens.”

Dutifully, Sansa kissed the old woman on the cheek. “It is kind of you to have me, my lady.”

Gallant, yes, and charming, and very clean. He knew how to dress and he knew how to smile and he knew how to bathe, and somehow he got the notion that this made him fit to be king.

martinusmiraculorum replied to your post: Question regarding Tyrells, sort of spoilery: so it seems obvious that Olenna planted the poison in Sansa’s hair net. I get that you care about the well-being of your granddaughter over some other girl, but do you think that 1. Olenna intended Sansa to take the fall for Joff’s death and 2. Margaery knew about it?

Honestly hadn’t thought about Margaery knowing about Olenna’s plot. You’re right that it would make her unique, but I don’t know, Margaery hasn’t really impressed me that much. She’s got the tools but she hasn’t put it together yet really?
I just think we really don’t know.  For all that Margaery might promise to offer as a character, she’s really behind the wizard’s curtain.

I think that when Olenna and Margaery broached Sansa about coming to Highgarden, they were sincere.  But then Petyr Baelish swooped in and convinced Olenna to frame her so that he could have Sansa dependent on him as a protector figure.  I think at one point I concluded something from the text that suggested it but I can’t remember now.

I’d like to believe that Margaery knew about everything that the rest of her family knew every step of the way.  It’d be a nice change from daughters who are at a choice/information disadvantage (Cersei, Jeyne W, Lysa, Cat, etc).  But I can’t say that I think there’s anything conclusive in the text about it.  It’s actually one of the things I’m most curious about knowing, and part of the subtext that makes Sansa/Margaery crackshipping interesting to me.
