Even though this vault was perfect, it was right that she didn’t get a ten. DTYs were already being competed by the 1992 Olympics, so the start value of the FTY should have been downgraded. Scoring aside, this is an amazing vault.

Welcome all, especially anyone from Göteborg, Sweden!!!
Interviewer: Are there things that she (Cat) does as a character that you think “I would’ve never done that”
Michelle Fairley: Yes, there are, but I understand exactly why she did it. And it shows another side to Catelyn as well. She is not what people think she is, but a multi-faceted character, but the one thing, the one core, piece of strength, steel that runs through her is - her children are her whole reason for existing.
This is a warning. Your mod needs to rant now, and she’ll do so in very bad English. I usually keep ranting and not directly story-related contents out of this tumblr, but I had to get this out of my system.
Dear HBO,
sometimes it makes me damn sad that you managed to cast the female book characters so incredibly perfect and then you decide to shit on it and rather turn Season 2 into coming of age blah instead of writing the characters as perfect as they are casted.
WHY did you get Michelle Fairley for Cat? She would have been perfect for ACoK!Cat.
I understand why you put more focus on Robb. You have to sell this show to people who would not read the books, and of course than means changes.
I even understand that that means less focus for Cat.
What I do NOT understand is why you are rewriting Catelyn the way you do.
GODDAMN, we know Robb is the king, but what YOU obviously forgot is that this is LADY CATELYN TULLY STARK. This is one of the main povs of ACoK. This is one of the characters who makes these books what they are. This is the person from whose eyes we read about the Red Wedding. This is the goddamn bravest woman in these books, and -SPOILERS- ends up as one of the most terrible villians due to what happened to her during these books.
THIS NOT JUST ROBBS MOM.
I don’t care if you insist on having Robb/Jeyne love story and sexy times. I don’t give flying fuck about Robb/Jeyne as a couple 90% of the time, but I understand damn well that others do. I am not angry about you giving these characters and their stroy more focus, I’m just damn angry about the way Catelyn isn’t just cut into a minor character, but also completely rewritten - and I dare to say that you did it to make sure we have a Robb POV and opinion instead of a Catelyn one. I don’t doubt that your Cat is an interesting character as well, but for everyone who has read the books, this adaptation of the character effing hurts.
I don’t identify with the Cerseis, the Sansas, the Aryas and the Jeynes of these books, I identify -among a few others- with Catelyn Tully Stark. I do NOT identify with Robb’s mom.
The seriously saddest thing about this is that you could easily have done this differently. You just didn’t give a shit after you decided you wanted Cat to be Robb’s mom and that’s it.
HBO, I love your adaptation, and I really understand the reasons for story changes. But every adaptation has its weaknesses, and your interpretation of Catelyn in comparison to book Cat sucks. Seriously.
Gosh, I hope so much you’ll at least try to keep the rest of her storyline as it was. And if you’ll have more Robb focus than Cat focus during the bloody Red Wedding I hope you’ll get Santa Walder Frey for christmas.

When my best friend makes fun of me for watching soap operas
At first she’s all like,
Then I remind her that Downton Abbey is a soap opera and she’s all,
And I’m like,

I realized what watching GoT and MM back to back does to me: with GoT I generally start out with “omg squee” and then think things through and realize it wasn’t *that* good, with MM the more I think about it the more I appreciate the episode, sooo.

Peggy is our kind of woman!

I relate to this a lot. Like, a lot. :/ *empathy hugs*
I’m sorry to hear that, but I accept your hug nevertheless

wolfchild-bloodchild replied to your post: I don’t even think book!Arya was even aware of things enough to generalize a statement about “most girls”.
she definitely did not do that in the book. most of it goes back to Sansa and their disagreements/Arya’s jealously of her & being forced to do boring things (not girly, truly, but boring!) like sewing instead of playing outside. this line sucked.
lemonylemonylemoncakes replied to your post: I don’t even think book!Arya was even aware of things enough to generalize a statement about “most girls”.
And that was about resentment toward her sister more than anything else. Stupid line was stupid, and I hate that they played it for laughs. Fuck that.

Throning in advance
I’m probably going to see the new GoT episode in… let’s see… 24 hours from now, but there are a couple of things I wanted to say before I forgot.
- This week the Italian dub of S2 began airing and my brother went to watch the first two episodes at a friend’s house where they have Sky. His opinion so far: “I was wondering whether it was a fantasy series with some softcore moments or a soft porn series with some fantasy elements”. This said by someone who has been marathoning Spartacus lately so… yeah, that’s kind of what GoT looks like from the outside I guess.
- Speaking of fanservice: I totally didn’t expect to have such a huge ladyboner for Tom Wlaschiha as Jaqen, but I do. So now I’m totally rooting for him to have his bathhouse scene though the chances are apparently slim. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW.
yes Jaqen THE PEOPLE DEMAND IT- It’s also important to set up THAT OTHER bathhouse scene in Harrenhal AMIRITE. And it would be thematically appropriate to do so in the same episode where Brienne and Jaime meet for the first time, RIGHT? A girl can dream!
And a man can get it.- I keep bothering everyone with this thing but I think I never wrote it down properly in my blog:
tv!Roose Bolton = Udo Kier, y/y? It’s the first thing I think every time he appears onscreen, I can’t help it. It’s also lots of fun in a meta way if you think that Udo’s character in Melancholia was a wedding planner.![]()
speak for yourself Roose! I mean Udo. I mean Roose.![]()
UDO
My thoughts on Jaqen:
A man could get it.
Because all mothers are equal in the eyes of their children.
Even if their children are incestuous bastards.
Or dragons.
Or shadow babies.
Or a little sociopathic

Leviticus 20:13:
If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Nice try, Colbert.
Leviticus was written approximately 1400 years before Jesus’ birth.
Nice try, artemispotter.
Old Testament =/= New Testament. Seriously. Also, Leviticus also commands you to learn the Torah, which, if you’re getting Old and New confused, you clearly haven’t.
Not to mention the other ridiculous laws in Leviticus (and Deuteronomy, as well), including the following:
- No mixing of different types of fabric
- No having sex with a woman on her period
- Curse your mother or father? You must be killed
- Disabled people cannot worship God
- Stubborn children should be stoned.
So…. still want to argue how valid the OT is?
Also, in the Bible!=Jesus said it, anyway. Even in the NT, there are a lot of people who aren’t Jesus giving their opinions.
Truth.
Only if the words are in red (in many translations) does it mean that Jesus said it.
FWIW, the apostle Paul and I would not have been friends. Mortal enemies is more like it.
Hey, guys, remember that one time when Jesus declared Levitican law irrelevant?
The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
