The women are the strong ones, truly.

#i don’t like this quote as much as everyone else seems to but

I’ve had that thought a few times, I mean that … I recognize that women have to go through things that men don’t, obviously, they are more oppressed as a group than men, so in terms of pointing that out (by way of suggesting that women are stronger because they’ve gone through worse and still survived) I like the quote.

But I also think “the point” isn’t that women are stronger than men, it’s that we are, as a group, equally strong and equally weak.  So in that sense the quote gives me pause.

I appreciate it but with an asterisk.
